The activity of Belarusian tourists has significantly increased. Also, more and more foreigners use the opportunity to visit Belovezhskaya Pushcha without visas. If earlier it could be done only through the pedestrian and Bicycle checkpoint "Bialowieza-Pererov", then this year the national Park is included in the tourist and recreational zone" Brest", which is subject to a ten-day visa-free regime for foreign citizens.
"The number of tourists who visit Pushcha through the checkpoint is increasing every year, the dynamics is progressing 2-3 times. If in the first year, when the visa — free regime was introduced, about 1.5 thousand tourists passed through the border crossing, then the second — 3.5 thousand, and last year-about 5 thousand. In January-April, we have already stepped over last year's figures, " the General Director of the national Park said.
In recent years, the Northern part of the Pushcha has been actively used for recreational purposes. "The tourism potential of the national Park is huge. But you have to understand one thing: the forest is a living organism, nature, recreation and load it will endure forever. Therefore, in order to avoid overload in the southern part, where the infrastructure is sufficiently developed today, we are developing both the Central and Northern parts of the forest, " concluded Alexander Buri.
